A Look at Cristiano Ronaldo

If you were asked who the most famous athlete in the world is, your answer would have to probably be Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese soccer player is not only an outstanding player, but also has model good looks to go along with it and tabloids love to talk about him. 43 Million Twitter followers, 61 Million Instagram followers and over 110 Million likes on Facebook make this guy more famous than any other athlete in the world. And while he has all the glory, money and success in the world, it wasn’t always like that. Here in this article I will take a look at the history of Ronaldo and how he became a star on and off the pitch.

In case you are unfamiliar with him and his skills and accolades, I will go over that before getting into his history. Presently, Ronaldo is easily one of the absolute best players in soccer worldwide and has been there for years. His scoring touch, dribbling, pace and more make him a complete offensive player unlike almost anyone else around today. He has won numerous player of the year awards as well as picking a number of league championships in a number of different leagues and tournaments.

But before the glory, Ronaldo was just a young boy living with his family in Funchal, Portugal. The family was not very well off economically and Cristiano had to live in a single room with all his siblings. As a child, his father was involved with soccer and quickly got Ronaldo into it as a young boy and before he was even a teenager, he was getting the attention of some clubs and eventually went on the join the youth program for Sporting CP. And at age 16, he was called up to the first team and became the first ever player to play for the clubs under-16, under-17, under-18, B Team and first team all in the same year, which was an incredible feat. After a solid year, many of the biggest teams in the world knew about him and were interested in him such as (Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United).

Eventually, he was signed to Manchester United for over 15 Million Dollars, making him the most expensive teenager in English soccer history at the time. Over his next six years with the team, he would continually grow and mature as a player and was seen by many as one of the best players on earth and helped the team to be one of the best in Europe. However, ahead of the 2009 season, he join Real Madrid for a record transfer fee of well over 100 Million Dollars.

It was his time in Real Madrid that would really solidify him as one of the best players on earth, with many saying he is number one. Over 236 appearances with the team from 2009 to the present day, Ronaldo has scored an astonishing 260 goals for the team, making him one of the best goal scorers in the world and he is actually the all-time leader in goals for Real Madrid. He is truly one of the best players in the world and his natural talent paired with insane work ethic has helped him reach that pinnacle.
