Stadium Super Trucks: Possibly the Most Exciting New Form of Motorsports

Those of you that are familiar with short course off-road racing might remember the Mickey Thompson SCORE series that was popular back in the 1970’s. Unfortunately, that doesn’t exist anymore, at least not in that form. Nowadays, there’s a brand new short course off-road racing series and it’s better than ever. It’s called Stadium Super Trucks, or SST for short. It was founded by off-road legend Robby Gordon and it currently takes place at events all over the world.

At first glance, it appears as if the trucks used in the SST are Trophy Trucks. Which in a way they are, only significantly smaller. For example, they only stand about a foot taller than a Mazda Miata and are just slightly longer and wider. As a comparison, a Trophy Truck is about twice that size. However don’t let the small size fool you, they still pack quite the punch thanks to a 600hp LS3 V8 under the hood. And they have similar suspension capabilities as a Trophy Truck too, and that means they can jump. What makes SST so appealing is the fact that every truck is set up exactly the same way, which means it all comes down to the drivers. Because of that, the racing is always action packed, especially when they race on asphalt. Check out this video showing the SST taking over the city of Long Beach, and prepare to instantly become a fan of the epic Motorsport.
