When you think of a professional MMA fighter, it is likely you think of a muscular, tattooed guy that goes out there looking to take his opponent out. And while some definitely fit that bill, there is one guy who is really breaking the mould for what a fighter does, and is getting praise all around the world for it. Of course, I am talking about current Bellator Heavyweight fighter Justin Wren. Not only is he one of the best heavyweight fighters on the planet, but also has one of the most impressive, inspirational and important missions in life. This article will touch on his fighting career and such, but will largely be about his mission, because that’s what he would want me to focus on.
Justin Wren got his start in MMA in 2006 and has went on to fight for some of the biggest shows and promotions in the world including UFC and Bellator, where he currently fights. He is an absolutely relentless talent who takes opponents into deep water where they have no choice but to succumb to his pace and strength in the cage. However, unlike your typical high level fighter, he doesn’t spend his days working out and training, he spends them working on humanitarian efforts for his charity, Fight For the Forgotten.

Fight for the Forgotten is Wren’s charity that he has had for years and the charity looks to provide fresh water in the form of wells to the Pygmy people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These Pygmy people are on average much shorter than other people and thus, are treated as outcasts and often don’t have the same rights and privileges that other people do, and are often taken advantage of. Wren has made them his inspiration and has provided them with nearly 40 wells that will provide hundreds of individuals with fresh water that they would never have had otherwise.

Even better, he uses a local workforce of Africans that gives them a purpose in life and he as provided dozens of people with work and a job. He also has teamed up with the charity Water4, which will without a doubt increase the number of wells he can drill and thus, the number of people that he can help. He has largely used his own money made from his MMA career to pursue these inspirational missions and goals of his, but over the past few years, his charities have been receiving more and more donations and getting more and more press that they will soon be able to provide even more families and individuals with fresh water, something that is completely necessary in life ans something most of us take for granted each and every day.
Justin Wren is an inspiration to us all, one of the true good guys in sports today and shows us that no matter how well of you are in life, there are others around the world who are not, and they desperately need our help.
