In every sport, players have tattoos and MMA is no different. However, since the athletes in this sport are shirtless (or sports bra if it is a female fighter), they have much more skin showing which means their tattoos are much more visible. While some MMA fighters have some of the most beautiful tattoos out there, here are three that most definitely do not.
1. Melvin Costa’s Everything

Wow, this guy just simply doesn’t care about life. That is one of the only explanations for his awful tattoos, two of which stand out as some of the worst I have ever seen. Costa has a giant eagle tattooed on his chest. But wait, that doesn’t sound too awful, does it? But when you see it, you can clearly tell it is a clear Neo-Nazi hate symbol, which takes up his whole chest. While that is one of the worst tattoos ever and extremely offensive, it isn’t even the craziest one on his body. That distinction goes to a nice little quote that wraps around his belly button that says “I have a small penis”. Yes, he really got that tattooed on his stomach.
2. Brock Lesnar’s Chest Sword

It really is a shame that one of the most physically impressive and imposing figures to ever step into an MMA cage is also the owner of one of the worst tattoos. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion has a giant sword tattooed right in the middle of his chest. While it does resemble a sword, it also resembles something else that is “phallic”. The tattoo is awful but I would never tell him that to his face.
3. Alan Belcher’s Johnny Cash

When most MMA fans think of an awful tattoo, this one comes to mind. Belcher himself is a great and intelligent fighter, but it looks as if the intelligence doesn’t follow him when he walks into the tattoo parlor. His portrait of Johnny Cash that takes up his entire upper left arm is simply atrocious, no other word for it. The artwork is pretty rough and it looks more like a mix of Kim Jong-Il and Wayne Newton than it does Johnny Cash.
